Project Overview:
Site selection to maintain Budnick’s Columbia, Illinois presence was well-received, specifically in finding a site that included the infrastructure to accommodate anticipated future expansion. The exterior elevation highlights a concrete form and texture that emulates Budnick’s taping process. The tilt-up concrete panel façade is highlighted with glass to bring natural light into the office and production areas, as well as carefully designed canopies that bring practicality and articulation to the building design. Within the structure, 26,000 square feet of the office area is offered on two floors. The office features a lobby incorporating a custom graphic timeline of Budnick’s rich history since 1952. Gray designed a café large enough to seat all employees to maintain the family atmosphere of their culture. Staff input was critical in formulating the forward-thinking, efficient new facility.
