Project Overview:
Beyond Housing is a locally-based community outreach program that provides facilities and assistance for redevelopment in the Saint Louis Area. Development projects include housing, commercial, retail and various neighborhood endeavors to grow community participation. With the redevelopment of the former city school property, Beyond Housing consolidated staff and centralized its expanding offices. The original facility was a 60-year-old, three-story masonry city school and gymnasium with an attached pre-engineered metal building housing expanded classrooms. A new façade was developed for the metal building, which became the main entry and community support offices. At the same time, the former three-story school incorporates training rooms, a cafeteria, accounting and administrative offices. The repurposed gym provided ample multipurpose space for group activities, presentations and events.
