Project Overview:
Tuscola Community Unit School District selected Gray Design Group for a complete interior renovation of the science rooms and lecture hall at East Prairie Middle School. Renovations include upgrades to the central science wing to improve space efficiency and classroom access. Gray reconfigured the science lab to provide access to the new STEAM room, which offers students dual-function pivot doors that can open into the library or close simultaneously to create a seamless markerboard for note-taking or creative ideas during class, plus a teacher’s island for demonstrations. The upgraded lecture hall features a new layout and chairs with wheelchair-accessible spaces. Custom-wrapped acoustic panels in a honeycomb formation to reduce sound reverberation and bring a little school spirit to the space.
