Tuscola High School
Client: Tuscola CUSD 301
Market:
Education
Contractor:
Grunloh Construction Inc.
Size:
90,200 SF
Project Overview:
Tuscola CUSD selected Gray for a complete interior renovation of the science wing and main corridor at Tuscola High School.
Phase One included renovating all the science classrooms, including the addition of private offices in the counseling suite to accommodate private conversations with students and a conference room for school district meetings. Removing the wall dividing the Physics and Chemistry room allows labs and lectures to occur in the same space. Gray moved lab storage between the Science and Biology and Physics and Chemistry rooms to improve access. The enhanced high school corridor
halls feature custom wall covering graphics in a science theme and neutral tones with pops of yellow in the soffits to complement the stripe and updated wayfinding in the flooring.
Phase Two includes renovations to the remainder of the high school classrooms and corridors. Other possible renovations include a new auditorium and student connector with a lounge to serve as the new main entrance and improve access to the cafeteria/auditorium and music room to limit classroom disruption. Gray added upgraded acoustic ceiling tiles with LED lighting, ADA accessible doors and new technology in both phases to all classrooms. A new HVAC was installed to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and school staff.
