The Moog Center’s school program supports deaf or hard of hearing children from birth to age three and their families. The expansion accommodates Moog’s growing enrollment and includes a soundproof audiology booth, therapy rooms, office space, a conference room for parent consults and toddler classroom. An audiology laboratory was added for programming cochlear implants, fitting hearing aids and audiological testing equipment. The expansion needed to provide an acoustically quiet interior environment. The design buffered enclosed spaces to minimize any sound transfer that could compromise the acoustic chamber where testing took place. Gray designed all of the materials, colors and furniture in the expansion to match the existing building to continue the fluidity of the interior spaces.
